Blacksburg’s missing an opportunity by letting Nanosonic go, in my opinion. It’s likely a money-saving move for Nanosonic, in the long run, but I’d like to see us keep this kind of inventiveness in Blacksburg. Giles County will benefit from having Nanosonic in their backyard.
A commuter train would be nice, wouldn’t it Rich? I did a train trip earlier this year for the first time in my life and I’ve got to say what a way to travel. I could get stuff done, had a power supply for my laptop, and it was just more convenient and interesting!

Now all we need is a commuter train from NRV to Lynchburg, and we’ll be able to commute to DC for those of us that make the 4.5 hour trip on a regular basis (ie: VT staff, businesses w/ Federal contracts, etc)

A natural progression to be sure. Judging by the traffic on 460E in the morning, it is safe to say that wages in Blacksburg can’t compete with the housing costs. Moving their jobs closer to home is a great benefit, albeit a secondary one to the lower operational costs.
