I know I’m woefully behind on posting this, but I checked – to be sure – and the ranking is still there.
That’s right … Blacksburg VA was named by Homes.com as the #1 “city” (I say “city” because we’re technically a Town) in the country to raise a family. From the post:
In 2011, Business Week named Blacksburg the “Best Place in the U.S. to Raise Kids.” Home to Virginia Tech, Moog Inc. and the National Weather Service, Blacksburg has a great educational base as well as plenty of economic opportunities. The city is known for its affordable living costs, low crime rates and exceptional schools. Blacksburg is brimming with family-friendly amenities and features a community center with an indoor pool and a nine-hole municipal golf course.
I realize these rankings are perhaps a dime a dozen, but the recognition is still good – and Blacksburg VA really is a good place to raise a family. Besides, it was announced on my birthday, September 26th … that has to mean that it’s incredibly accurate, right?
