You came back?! Wow, I lost that bet - but glad you're here!
Ever wondered how you’d check your home’s energy rating? Ever wondered what that rating might look like, or the test itself?
Anne Clelland wondered just that, and she contracted with Energy Check (a division of Shelter Alternatives) to do an energy audit of her home. It’s 6:00 minutes long, but shows many of the ways that the energy efficiency of your home can be tested.
My favorite moment? Watching Cecile dance around the bathroom – couldn’t figure out what she was doing.
An unintended discovery? Anne needs to do a little more dusting. ![]()
The end result? Anne’s got a leaky house, but nothing a good energy audit couldn’t fix.

Jeremy, how lovely of you to feature Energy Check’s home energy audit and my spiderwebs on your site!
Just to clarify, we bartered services, one of the beauties of being two locally-owned companies.
And while I loved Cecile’s dance moves, I was appalled that our linoleum was ballooning up from the floor through the air leaking through the floor boards.
Yes, we’ll be doing implementing energy audit improvements!
Thank you for featuring our video on your blog, Jeremy!
The video was created by Anne Clelland, Using her amazing skills in social media and Web 2.0! She’s a dynamo!
I believe that a professional Energy Audit is extremely valuable to those who have recently bought a home; it gives them a comprehensive understanding of the building they’ve just invested in, and prioritized recommendations on how to improve it to be what they want it to be!
Cecile, a “dynamo” is a good way to describe Anne. Just ran into her at Easy Chair and she’s a mile a minute.
