It’s not that Blacksburg’s the only Town in the New River Valley that experiences the Summer Solstice, it’s just the only one that has a party to celebrate.
If you’re in town this weekend, head downtown and check out the second annual Blacksburg Summer Solstice Fest. Events start at noon (seriously, an Oyster Slurping contest? I think I’ll pass, thank you), and I’m looking forward to catching some live tunes. Â New River Voice has a good post about the event, including ways the event has qualified to be a “green event” by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
See you there!
