Still Waiting On Those Spinners

Golfcart2
While we wait for the BT to install the spinners on their new Hokie Express (you KNOW it’d look good), we did a short little interview with Dave Elmore, creator of the winning design.  For the interview, I’ll play the part of Me, and Dave will play himself.

Me:      Dave, how did you conceive the design?
Dave:
I had actually imagined the dimensional logo design a long time ago and was just waiting for the right project to apply it.  The title "Hokie Express" fit my idea perfectly by joining the "E" at the end of "Hokie" and at the beginning of "Express".  Before I ever started the drawing I already knew what it would look like.

Me:      How long did it take to create?
Dave:
It didn’t take me long at all to come up with the design.  I had actually imagined the dimensional logo design a long time ago and was just waiting for the right project to apply it.  I sat down at my computer on a Saturday morning, about a week before the contest deadline and started working on my design.  By early that afternoon the design was complete.  I made a few minor tweaks here and there over the next couple of days (drawing and redrawing the Hokie Bird) but basically, it took about 5 or 6 hours.

Me:      What’s your favorite part of the design?
Dave:
My favorite part of the design is it’s dimensional perspective which worked really well with the two colors, orange and maroon.  By adding some shading and framing it with the heavy black across the top, the design really seems to pop out.

Me:      Anything else?
Dave:
I’d just like to say thanks to everyone who voted!

So there you have it – Dave’s a psychic when it comes to his designs, loves the two best colors in the world, and wants to say thanks to all of his adoring fans!  Dave, thanks for taking the time, and congratulations on the design!  Tomorrow, we’ll have an interview with Fiona Rhodes, Marketing guru at the Blacksburg Transit.
