Yesterday, I wrote a post about the history of the New River Valley. John wrote in and recommended the book "A Long Walk Home", by James Thom – the story of Mary Draper Ingles’ capture by Shawnee Indians, how she survived and eventually returned home. I can’t find "A Long Walk Home", but it looks like "Follow The River" is interesting, and there a number of others who have written books on the subject – anyone know of others that might be of interest?
Is “A Long Walk Home” perhaps the name of the play that’s performed in the Radford area? You know…that billboard the’s posted along West Main Street near the interstate? I’ve read “Follow the River,” and I think it’s a fabulous book. Whenever I think I have something difficult going on in my life, I think of Mary Draper Ingles’ journey on foot from modern-day Ohio to the NRV, and suddenly my plight seems a little less severe.

Whoops! That’s what I get going from memory. It is called “Follow the River”
Long Walk Home was the outdoor thing over in Radford. It was about her.
Sorry for my error.
