Want a Hotel-Condo In Blacksburg?

The concept of game-day accommodations for alumni visiting VIrginia Tech is not a new one – see exhibits Clay Court, Cascades and Cascades Pointe, The Orchards … the list goes on and on.  Now, some folks are throwing their hats into the ring by converting the Holiday Inn University to condos, as well.

I missed the introduction to the project the developer did for the real estate community earlier this week, but it’s an interesting concept.  Buy the hotel room, put it in their rental program, and then use it when you come to town.  Kind of like a time share, don’t you think?  I guess the location is hard to beat, but I don’t know.  What do you think?

I think it’s great for visiting parents and in-laws! That way you can see them and they can have their own space!

*Editor’s note – she wasn’t talking about her own parents and in-laws, was she?*

I think this is an interesting idea and it certainly sounds like a timeshare. Are hotel rooms in Blacksburg in a high enough demand that this would be profitable to the hotel room owner?
Obviously this developer is thinking outside the box which is great.
