The Morgan Quitno Press reported today on the safest states, ranking Virginia the 36th safest state in the country.  A couple of thoughts:

* we were 37th last year.  Looks like things are getting worse in the Commonwealth – should we be worried?
* Alaska jumped two spots to number 7.  I mean, it’s Alaska!  I know it’s desolate but how much crime can you really get into?
* West Virginia is 41st.  FORTY FIRST!  Apparently they’re not counting all the couch-burning in Morgantown.

I don’t know, I just thought a nice forest picture projected safety and security.
